James Buchanan '06, of Calgary, Alberta, is a member of Canada's Under 21 men's
rugby team, competing in the world championships in Mendoza, Argentina, June 9
through 25.
Canada, seeded 12th, will face Argentina,
New Zealand and Scotland in the pool stages. The other 11 teams competing in the
IRB U21 World Championship 2005 are Argentina, Australia, England, France, Ireland,
Italy, New Zealand, Samoa, Scotland, South Africa and Wales. The official Web

Buchanan, who plays rugby with the Hornets in Alberta, is a multifield
major at St. Lawrence and a fullback on the football
team. He's played club rugby at St. Lawrence, and is a member of Beta
Theta Pi fraternity. A graduate of Central Memorial High School
in Calgary, Buchanan was a captain and the team MVP of the football
team as a senior in high school; he also played rugby in high school
and was on the swimming team. He earned Central Memorial's grade 12
male athlete of the year award.
