At the invitation of former President Bill Clinton, Grace Ochieng' '12 will co-facilitate a session for students at the Clinton Global Initiative conference in Washington, DC, March 30 to April 1. The session is titled "The Next Step: Moving from Idea to Action," and is aimed at guiding attendees through the process of turning a commitment from vision to reality, while discussing partnership-building, community engagement, fundraising strategies and other relevant skills needed to develop a successful commitment.
Ochieng' was one of five college students involved in Clinton Global Initiative University who were invited to participate in the full-scale Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) 2011 meeting.
Also in 2011, Ochieng' was a delegate to the United Nation's annual Commission on the Status of Women. In 2009, she was awarded a Projects for Peace grant, which led to her founding an organization called "Pads for the People."
She is a Kenya native, a Davis United World College Scholar and is majoring in global studies and government, with a minor in Hispanic studies.
