St. Lawrence alumni are among those reporting news on the ups and downs of the volatile stock market at two popular cable news networks. University graduates Martha MacCallum reports for cable business network CNBC, and David Haffenreffer is co-anchor of the CNNfn program "Ahead of the Curve."

A 1986 graduate with a degree in government, MacCallum is a CNBC business news correspondent and fill-in anchor for the network's "Market Watch," "Market Wrap" and "The Edge" shows. She also reports for CNBC from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange and the NASDAQ/AMEX market site and has contributed stories to NBC's "Today" show and cable station MSNBC.

Prior to joining the staff of CNBC, MacCallum worked for Wall Street Journal Television and Corporate Finance magazine.

Haffenreffer is a 1990 graduate and joined CNNfn in February of 2000. "Ahead of the Curve" is CNN's early-morning two-hour business news program that previews the day's domestic market activity, reports on the latest analysis of market activity throughout the world and provides a complete overview of the news of the day.

Previously, Haffenreffer hosted the syndicated personal finance program "Money Talks" and provided Reuters financial updates for WABC-TV. Before working for Reuters, Haffenreffer served as business news and financial markets anchor for Bloomberg Radio and Television. He has studied at the American University Graduate School of Journalism and Public Policy.
