Two science journals recently published research co-authored by R. Sheldon '68 and Virginia H. Johnson Associate Professor of Biology Joseph Erlichman and St. Lawrence graduates, all of whom where Erlichman's students when the research was conducted.

The September 2009 issue of the Journal of Neurophysiology includes the paper "Chemosensory Responses to CO2 in Multiple Brain Stem Nuclei Determined Using a Voltage-Sensitive Dye in Brain Slices From Rats," by Erlichman, Andrew C. Boyer '05, Patrick Reagan '05, Robert W. Putnam (Wright State Medical School), Nick A. Ritucci (Wright State Medical School), and J.C. Leiter (Dartmouth Medical School).

The May 7, 2008 edition of The Journal of Neuroscience included the paper "Inhibition of Monocarboxylate Transporter 2 in the Retrotrapezoid Nucleus in Rats: A Test of the Astrocyte- Neuron Lactate-Shuttle Hypothesis," by Erlichman, Amy Hewitt '03, Tracey L. Damon, '05, Michael Hart '06, Jennifer Kurascz '05, Aihua Li (Dartmouth Medical School) and Leiter.
