An alumna in Central New York who's been showing her paintings in local venues is
starting her own gallery in the community of Marcellus.
Edith Patterson Brown '94, who earned her degree in fine arts, is a painter living with
her husband, Stephen '93, and two daughters in Marcellus, near Syracuse. She has
been showing her work in a gallery in Skaneateles and some other nearby facilities,
but now plans to open her own gallery on North Street in Marcellus. According to an
article in the Marcellus Observer newspaper, she is inviting ideas for
the gallery from the community.
In addition to showing her own work, Brown states that she plans to show the work
of other artists in the area, as well as hold workshops, including some for
children, and after-school art classes.
While a student at St. Lawrence, Brown was a member of Kappa Delta Sigma sorority and
studied in London through the University's International Study program. She earned a
master's degree in educational counseling from New York University.
