Professor of Physics Daniel W. Koon recently served on a Ph.D. examination committee at the Danish Technical University's department of micro- and nanotechnology, in the Copenhagen area. The thesis being evaluated cited five separate papers written and published by Koon while at St. Lawrence, including two papers co-authored with former St. Lawrence Professor of Mathematics Collen J. Knickerbocker and one co-authored with Arshad A. Bahl '90 and Edward O. Duncan '88 while they were University students.

Koon reports that he and his Danish hosts are "writing up a handful of manuscripts for journal publication inspired by questions and ideas tossed around during the thesis defense, in several lively conversations afterwards, and in a subsequent flurry of airport e-mails. A wager resulting from a theoretical disagreement between the two parties remains unresolved, pending laboratory tests."
