A St. Lawrence University senior recently had a short chat with President Bill Clinton about health-care reform.

Benjamin Davies '01, of Barrington, Rhode Island, was among those in a crowd gathered outside Barrington High School when President Clinton arrived for a visit there on July 28. When he left the school, the President ventured away from his motorcade to greet people who had lined up outside.

According to the Providence, Rhode Island, Journal, Clinton "shook hands and engaged in a two-minute seminar on health-care reform with...Davies."

"It was amazing," Davies is quoted as saying in the paper. "We asked him a question about universal health-care coverage and he got right into it. He didn't dumb it down a single notch."

Davies is a philosophy major and participated in the University's program in Australia in 1999.
