U.S. Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine), a 1975 graduate of St. Lawrence,
is among the 45 women celebrities providing "words of inspiration" on
Yahoo!'s special health Web site promoting October as Breast Cancer
Awareness Month.
A government major, Collins was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa leadership
honorary as a student at St. Lawrence, and was also a member of Phi
Beta Kappa, academic honorary, and the English and government department
honoraries. She has received an Alumni Citation and an honorary degree from
her alma mater, and joins NBC "Today" show news anchor Ann Curry, musician
Melissa Etheridge, skater Peggy Fleming and others to promote awareness
of breast cancer and related health-care issues on the Yahoo! site.
