Five distinguished graduates of St. Lawrence were honored in a special ceremony held during Reunion Weekend on campus. Four received Alumni Citations and a fifth received the Sol Feinstone Humanitarian Award on June 3.

Alumni Citations were awarded to:

  • Richard Spooner '44, Southampton, New York, a retired high school principal and former mayor of Southampton
  • Frederick Campbell '65, of St. Paul, Minnesota, bishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis
  • Kimberly Whitehead Puckett '86, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, co-founder of Caribou Coffee
  • Walter Findeisen '52 (posthumously), a businessman and civic leader in Rutland, Vermont

    Alumni Citations are awarded to selected graduates of the University for long-term and exemplary service to St. Lawrence or for exemplary professional accomplishment or community volunteer activities.

    Brian McMurray '74, attending physician at the Summit Medical Center Department of Emergency Medicine and clinical assistant professor of emergency medicine and medicine at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, received the Feinstone Award.

    The Feinstone Award is presented annually to a graduate who, through devotion of his or her resources, or personal effort, has demonstrated deep commitment to the advancement of the freedom of people to pursue and obtain personal, professional and economic freedom.
