The members of St. Lawrence University's Circle K service organization
have used the proceeds of recent fund-raising activities to contribute to
a fund assisting a local child with health problems who recently lost his
home in a fire.
Circle K members Janelle Graves '09 and Nicole Bottego '08 learned through
news media reports about 11-year-old Travis Gilbert, of nearby Lisbon, who
has been diagnosed with Lyme disease and a brain tumor, and whose family
lost their home in a fire in early November. The students proposed to the
group that proceeds from the sale of "care packages" to classmates be
donated to a fund assisting Gilbert. The donation amounted to $2,000,
and students also planned to write letters of support and friendship to
Gilbert.
