Eight members of St. Lawrence University's Chemistry Club showed local school children
how to have fun with science recently, in celebration of National Chemistry Week.
The students and advisor Jeffery Greathouse, assistant professor of chemistry, met with 100
fifth-graders at Canton Elementary School to explore the National Chemistry Week theme
"Earth's Atmosphere and Beyond." Demonstrations of a "volcano," "disappearing statues," "pop
rockets" and pen chromatography delighted the participants.
