Bill Martin '67 has been named chair of the board the Epic Theatre Ensemble in New York. The company, which won an off-Broadway OBIE award in 2007, creates and conducts extensive inner-city school theatre programs and recently received an award from the White House.
On November 4, 2009, Michelle Obama presented Epic with the first President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities award for its "Shakespeare Remix," program, in which professional actors and high school students in Harlem, Bronx, Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn work in after-school sessions to bring Shakespeare to the off-Broadway stage.
Martin, who earned his St. Lawrence degree in psychology, is president of CME International Inc., an international energy development and investment company that developed the first carbon-capture energy project in Africa.
