An annual award given by a local education organization has been named
in honor of Bill Lewis '58, M'64, a retired Potsdam Central School counselor
and coach.
The St. Lawrence Valley Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, an international educator's
organization, annually gives Outstanding Prospective Educator awards to promising
high school students from Canada, Akwesasne and the U.S. who are aspiring
educators. Lewis was instrumental in instituting and preserving the chapter's
award program, and the chapter has now named the award in his honor.
A sport and leisure studies major as an undergraduate, Lewis also was a member
of the biology honorary, the Hill News staff, the Student Judiciary
Board, and the football and baseball teams. He has been active as an alumnus as
well, as a volunteer in events and fund-raising.
