When communications giant AT&T completes its planned broadband
"spin-off" and subsequent merger with Comcast Corp., the responsibilities
of Betsy Bernard '77 will become a lot broader, too.
The company has named Bernard, currently the president and chief executive
officer of AT&T's consumer division, president-designate of AT&T and the
head of AT&T business. The promotion is effective when the spin-off of
AT&T broadband is completed, which is expected to be finalized by the end
of the year.
Bernard will succeed AT&T Chairman and CEO-elect David Dorman, and she will
also head the company's network services group, according to a corporate
announcement.
A government major and participant in the University's program of study in
Kenya, Bernard was recently profiled on St. Lawrence's Web site --
