One of New York State's new legislators is a St. Lawrence University alumnus.
Will Barclay '92, of Pulaski, New York, has been elected to the New York State Assembly
in the 124th district. Barclay, an attorney
with the firm of Hiscock and Barclay in Syracuse, has never held elected office before, but is
not exactly a stranger to state politics -- his father, Douglas Barclay, was a long-time
New York State senator.
District 124 include the cities of Fulton and Oswego and the Oswego County towns of
Granby, Volney, Scriba, New Haven, Mexico, Richland, and Albion, as well as a couple
of Onondaga County towns.
Barclay earned his law degree at Syracuse University, and majored in government
at St. Lawrence. He was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity, and studied in
Vienna through the International Study Program. Barclay is a former member of the
Alumni Executive Council, and his mother, Sara (Dee Dee Barclay), is a former
University trustee.
