St. Lawrence volunteers in Camden, NJ, during spring break

Groups of St. Lawrence students volunteered their time and service over Spring Break once again this year, assisting communities in New Jersey and Georgia.

One group worked with the Oblates of St. Francis DeSales' DeSales Service Works in Camden, New Jersey, which is the third-poorest city in the country. In addition to collecting items for use at a homeless shelter, the volunteers did rehabilitation work at Northgate Park.

Participants were Madeline Poole, Leila Mohamed, Mallie Kai-Kai, Andrew Hayes, Safia Quadri, Tiara Davis, Fatima Sall, Laura St. Andrew and Marieme Diallo, along with Sister Bethany Fitzgerald, of the Newman Center, and Brewer Bookstore Principal Clerk Joe Tebo.


Habitat for Humanity volunteers in Georgia

The University chapter of Habitat for Humanity traveled this year to Statesboro, Georgia, assisting Bulloc County Habitat for Humanity finish its 42nd house.

Participants were Andrew Hosmer, Braulio Acuria, Charlie Jones, Claire Arrowsmith, Danielle McBride, Emily Scannell, Hannah Brubaker, Lauren Bennett, Mia Sloan, Mike Petroni, Nathan Rotich, Nikki Mayville and Sarah Taylor, plus Director of Dining Services Cindy Atkins, president of the St. Lawrence chapter of Habitat, and Assistant Director of Student Activities and Leadership Meg Flaherty.
