Alexander Fisher '10, of Fulton, NY, will pursue optics research in Paris, France,
this summer, through the international Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU)
program of the National Science Foundation.
Fisher is a physics and mathematics major, as well as a member of the cross country
and track teams.
He will participate in a program called "Optics in the City of Light," spending
nine weeks in a variety of laboratories in Paris performing research with a wide range of ultrafast lasers. The program is all-inclusive, and pays a stipend as well. The maximum number
of undergraduates the program will accept is six.
The program
Web site states, "We seek to identify students who are passionate about science and discovery and who are eager to explore other societies and their cultures. Preference is given to students who attend institutions where research is not the primary focus."
