Six outstanding St. Lawrence students have been selected as Summer
Admissions Interns, with multiple
opportunities to take part in the recruitment process for future students.
The interns were chosen from 25 candidates who completed an extensive application
process, with the finalists selected for multi-stage interviews. Each finalist
prepared a brief presentation and interviewed with a team of senior students,
a group of admissions counselors and the Vice President and Dean of Admissions
and Financial Aid Terry Cowdrey. Summer Admissions Interns for 2007 are Bryanne
Bowman '08, of Beaver Falls, NY; Drew Crawford '08, of East Amherst, NY;
Sara Merrihew '08, of Tupper Lake, NY; Jason Jacobs '08, of Fairport, NY;
Melina Van Hook '08, of Cambridge, NY; and Tedd Rama '08, of Cottekill, NY.
Interns' responsibilities include leading campus tours, making personal
contacts with prospective students and facilitating online chats. The internship
will also include meetings with the University's Senior Staff and undertaking
projects such as analyzing campus visit statistics, providing feedback on
the admissions and financial
aid Web site, developing new recruitment
initiatives and planning and implementing Tour Guide training for the
fall semester. The internship will incorporate a series of workshops on a variety
of topics that have an impact upon the admissions, recruitment and selection
processes, including the admissions calendar, territory management, travel
planning, publications and marketing, interviews and application review.
