The Department of Music at St. Lawrence University invites applications and nominations for a one-year, full-time appointment to begin August 2014. The successful candidate will teach Introduction to Music, Music Theory, and one or two electives in the candidate’s area of expertise. Introduction to Music and Music Theory are comprehensive in nature and conceived within the framework of the liberal arts; the music for study can be chosen from a wide range of times and places. The normal teaching load is three courses per semester. Candidates with completed doctorate in hand preferred, but advanced ABD candidates may be considered. This person must have an academic background in music theory and analysis, demonstrated aptitude for effective teaching in a liberal arts setting, and evidence of scholarly achievement.
