I was first drawn to St. Lawrence University because of the inviting campus and demanding academics the school had to offer. In high school I completed six years of German and four years of Italian, and was pleased to hear that St. Lawrence offered both languages. As I hope to one day pursue a career in international business, St. Lawrence’s economics major and the variety of languages offered have suited my needs well.

I speak English, German, and intermediate Italian and hope to one day speak Spanish and French as well. For the past four summers I have visited Germany focusing on advancing my German skills while I visited my relatives, and explored Europe. In the summer of 2009 I interned in Brühl, Germany at the company D.S. Marketing, a corporate event planning business. As the recipient of a 2009 internship fellowship, St. Lawrence helped me finance my internship experience. The opportunity to intern in Germany solidified my German speaking and writing skills as well as developed my career goals.

My greatest experience at St. Lawrence so far, has been the opportunity to TA for German. It has served as an avenue to meet great new people and establish lasting bonds with faculty members. Moreover, it has been by far one of the most rewarding experiences St. Lawrence has afforded me. It has allowed me to help students excel in the German language through my guidance and teaching.

In addition, I have been accepted to study abroad through the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP) in Germany this spring. I am looking forward to the opportunity to devote a semester to studying the language and culture. After college I hope to get my master’s degree in international business and work in a field that allows me to combine my Economics and German expertise.
