World Languages Week

World Languages Week (WLW) is taking place Monday March 17 to Thursday March 20th.

Hosted by the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, the Language Resource Center and the Center for International and Intercultural Studies, St. Lawrence University strives to promote and highlight the importance of language learning, international experience and exposure to different cultures.

Below is the schedule:

Monday March 17:

  • 4:30 -5:30: Spanish Trivia —Test your knowledge in Spanish culture & win prizes - Carnegie 10
  • 6:00-8:00: Foreign Movie: A Bottle in The Gaza See — Sponsored by The Arabic Club & The Islamic Club (ICC) - Discussion will follows the screening - Winston Room, Student Center

Tuesday March 18:

  • 11:00-1:00: CIIS information table — Student Center
  • 4:30-5:30: French Trivia —Test your knowledge in French culture & win prizes - Carnegie 10
  • 6:00-7:00: Cultural Performances —  Dances, songs, poems, and music - Winston Room, Student Center

Wednesday March 19:

  • 4:30-5:30: Poetry for Peace — Students from the MLL department will read poems in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Spanish & Swahili - Carnegie 10
  • 10:00pm -11:00: : Tea Time in I-House lounge - SYKES 2616

Thursday March 20:

  • 4:30-5:30: German Trivia —Test your knowledge in German culture & win prizes - Carnegie 10
  • 5:00-7:00:   SLU International Iron chef  - Co-sponsored by Dining Services: A live cooking contest -  Dana
  • 7:00pm-9:00: Foreign Movie: Persepolis — Part of Carnegie 10 International film series -  Carnegie 10
