Student Internships and Research Projects
Kelly Saelak, RESCATE Working for RESCATE at first was something less than ideal. Projects were given on a daily bases, and most of them were created on a daily bases. However, towards the end of the month's time for the internship, an interesting proposition came up. It turns out that for years, RESCATE had been intending to create a center of documentation, a mini-library. Using another NGO, who had created its own center of documentation, as an example I created a code and templates as to organize all paper materials of RESCATE. By the end of the month, I had developed the entire technical basis for the organization to launch their center of documentation, but by the request of my supervisor, whom I had gotten very close to over time, I am going to stay as a volunteer at RESCATE. Once a week until May, I will dedicate three hours of my time to the organization to complete as much as I can of their mini-library. Other than the reason of completing a mini-library for an NGO, there are reasons why I am choosing to continue my work with RESCATE. The main reason is my supervisor and other employees. Getting to know Spaniards in Spain is difficult, especially since they know that I am here for a predetermined period, but through RESCATE I found people who not only appreciated me, but I had the opportunity to make some sort of friendships, although through a work space. In addition, there is also the lovely fact that creating the center of documentation is something that can fatten up my resume.
