National Foreign Languages Week March 7 - 11, 2005* *SLU events will begin on March 4
· 7 Days, 7 Movies, 7 Languages! A week long event! The featured films will be in the seven foreign languages offered at SLU. Come and watch some great foreign films, even get some FREE POPCORN! 7:00pm: Introductory remarks by a Modern Language faculty member 7:15pm: Film viewing - Friday, March 4th: “Tampopo” (Japanese) - Saturday, March 5th: “María Full of Grace” (Spanish) - Sunday, March 6th: “Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain” (French) - Monday, March 7th: “Pane e Tulipani” (Italian) - Tuesday, March 8th: “Lola Rennt “ (German) - Wednesday, March 9th: “The Road Home” (Chinese) - Thursday, March 10th: “A series of humorous Kenyan television shows” (Swahili) · Language Tables (Friday, March 4 @ noon in the Faculty/Staff Dining Room)
· World Languages Trivia Game (Wednesday , March 9 @ 4:15pm in the POLYGLOT) Join faculty and students for a fun game about world languages. Small prizes awarded for the top winners!
· Careers Over Coffee (Thursday, March 10 @ 11:45am in the Monaco Room, Student Center) This session will focus on careers in international education and what to do with a language major. This event is hosted by Career Services and CIIS.
· Poetry for Peace (Thursday, March 10 @ 4:15pm in the Winston Room (former Laurentian Room in the Student Center) Poetry in various foreign languages will be shared with an emphasis on world peace. All are welcome to participate!
· A Phrase a Day (Monday, March 7 - Friday, March 11) A new phrase will be posted on the Dept. of Modern Languages and Language Resource Center web sites in the seven languages offered at SLU. Hear an audio sample of the phrase in each language!
