Further Research Opportunities
There are many other opportunities for the motivated undergraduate interested in research. These include:
- The SLU Summer Fellowship program. Work with a professor mentor over the summer and explore reserach questions related to your disicipline. In 2008 SLU fellows recieved free room and a $3500 summer stipend. (See the 2008 SLU Fellowship Program for more information).
- The National Science Foundation offers a program called "Research Experiences for Undergraduates" REU. It is a similar program to the SLU fellowship except on a national scale. Check out the NSF REU page to search for a topic/school in your interest area.
- Sometimes professors have money to hire undergraduates in the summer to work on research problems independantly. Feel free to ask your advisor or other professor you're interested in working with if they have a project you can work on during the regular school year or summer.
