The Snow Bowl
In the fall of 2007 this department initiated a friendly rivalry with three other New York schools: Colgate, Hamilton, and Skidmore; with the intent of promoting interest and participation in mathematical problem solving. The bowl rotates among departments and is awarded annually to the school whose top five students have the highest total score on the Putnam Competition. Colgate garnered the Snow Bowl for the first year, so it will reside there during the 2008-09 academic year.
To help students prepare for the Putnam, the department offers a quarter credit mathematical problem solving seminar each fall, MATH250. The course is open to all interested students, so come hone your problem solving skills and help St. Lawrence regain the Snow Bowl!
