At St. Lawrence, Katie played on the basketball team and worked for the QRC and the department of Modern Languages. She did a SLU Fellowship one summer, and she studied abroad in Italy.
After graduation, she spent two years volunteering and working as an English teacher in Italy and Spain. She is now a graduate student in statistics at the University of Rhode Island.
Her favorite experiences in the department were the annual Piathlon and the trip she took to Los Alamos for her SLU fellowship. Her advice to students is to avoid focusing too much attention on just one thing. "Now is the time to try new things and figure out what you like and what you don't like," she says. "Go outside your comfort zone. You never know, you could find your passion."
