At St. Lawrence, Casey has been a member of the field hockey team, a reading buddy, and a QRC mentor. She has worked as an instructor at the Kumon Math & Reading Center and as a co-teacher in a third-grade classroom. When she graduates, she plans to be a math teacher.
Her favorite experience in the department has been attending the Hudson River Undergraduate Mathematics Conference. "Especially the van ride conversations," she says. Her advice to students is to make the effort to talk to professors. "The first time is always hard, but that little bit of effort and putting yourself out there goes a long way," she says. "It builds relationships, provides answers or understanding and can open doors to new opportunities."
