SLU Wellness Milers Club
Sponsored jointly by Canton – Potsdam Hospital, the St. Lawrence
University Fitness Center, Health Center, and Wellness Initiative,
the goal of the Wellness Milers Club is to encourage a wellness
oriented lifestyle amongst St. Lawrence students, faculty, and staff;
as well as area community members using the Fitness Center.
New this fall, the Wellness Milers Club encourages a wellness oriented
lifestyle, awards participants for choosing to live such a lifestyle,
and allows participants to choose the types of exercise they would
like to include in their lives.
Beyond the joy and benefit of exercise itself, program participants
can earn special Wellness Milers’ awards by accumulating miles.
Awards are given as miles are accumulated throughout the year. Once
you have accumulated miles to an award level, present the current
progress slip to the Fitness Center desk and have them validate
your progress and give the award to you. Award levels and awards
are as follows:
250 miles: Water Bottle
500 miles: Wellness Miler T-Shirt
750 miles: Intramural Champion T-Shirt
1,000 miles: Certificate of Recognition
Miles can be accumulated through a wide-variety of exercise, as
well as for healthy eating and drinking. Walking and running miles
count as full mileage equivalent. A conversion chart, showing how
to convert other types of exercise into miles, is available at the
Fitness Center (along with progress slips and monthly calendars
to help you keep track of your exercise).
Individuals can register to participate in the program by picking
up a “Wellness Milers’ Progress Slip” at the Fitness
Center, recording their accumulated miles on the progress slip,
and turning the progress slip in at the Fitness Center desk at the
end of each month. The current year for accumulating miles will
be September 1, 2004 – August 31, 2005.
For more information, contact Robin
