In early spring, I foundmyself going through one
of my scrapbooks and came across my St. Law-
rence acceptance letter, preserved and in perfect
condition. It's hard to believe it was 10 years ago
that we all received that envelope in the mail and
made one of the best decisions of our lives.
I appreciate everyone who continues to write in
with their updates on what opportunities and ex-
citingmoments they've had since graduating. In a
small way, it reminds me of this bond we all have
with each other since we got that letter and sur-
vived four North Country winters together. Please
keep the notes and emails coming!

with her master's in social work: "I passed the li-

I came across a wonderful article about

Navy guided-missile destroyer in the Arabian Sea,
studying the effects of different watch-standing
schedules on the sleep and performance of sail-
ors. If you’d like to read more about her work, visit

Greetings, Class of 2010! I have interesting ca-
reer news this time.
Since graduating,
Whitney Hudson
has been
pursuing an acting career in television and film in
New York City. When she moved there she said
she felt completely lost on how to even begin
navigating the profession.
Over time, audition by audition and role by role,
Whitney said she started to feel as if she could
truly call herself an actor. Her first big role was
in the movie
The Place Beyond the Pines
The di-
rector, Derek Cianfrance, gave Whitney a chance
with a speaking part in a scene. This was her first
contract and enabled her to join the Screen Ac-
tors’Guild. She can now vote for the SAG awards,
which she says is a pretty cool benefit, but it also
enables her to make a living wage at acting now.
Whitney has had many adventures performing
improv in the city and working on independent
movies, commercials and television and movie
sets. She has been featured on shows such as
Law & Order: SVU
Gossip Girl
Whitney says,
I feel like I am just beginning to understand the
business. The life of an actor ebbs and flows and I
am riding that wave feeling grateful for both the
highs and the lows. The other day I went to see
The Place Beyond the Pines
and my scene was basi-
cally cut to nothing, but as the credits rolled and I
sawmy name I felt thankful just for that.”
