Carnegie has two computer labs/classrooms: 212, with 20 computer
workstations, and 214, with 10 computers. Each
computer runs VirtuaLab (CAN8) software, which is used
by every 100-level language course; VirtuaLab allows
students to practice their pronunciation, grammar, and
listening comprehension skills and provides students
with opportunities for feedback on their work.
When classes are not in session in 212 and 214, language
students have priority in using the computer labs.
In addition, we have several mini-labs which allow students
to work on individual or group projects for their language
courses. Room 209 is dedicated to video and
audio editing with two PC workstations, and room
210 contains one work station
(iMac) for video and audio editing as well. Room
211 is our video viewing
room. Faculty may reserve the room for video
screenings, and students may use the room to watch
videos as required for their courses.
The Polyglot is the location for the
Spanish and French Writing Centers, and a place where
students can come work or hang out.
The second floor of Carnegie is equipped with a wireless
connection. We have four wireless-capable laptops available
for students and faculty to borrow for use within the
building. Each laptop is equipped with the same software
available on the lab workstations. The LRC has additional
equipment available to lend to students and faculty; please
see the Resources Collection (link coming soon)
for specifics and availability.
