My name is Bela Vonnak and I am a Senior here at Saint Lawrence University. I am from Canajoharie, NY, which is about 45 minutes west of Albany, NY. I am a Psychology major and a Sports & Exercise Science minor. Over the years here, I have learned what a close knit community we have on campus and the experiences I have shared with people will always stay with me. I have been able to grow here not just as a student but as an individual.
I play basketball for the varsity team and it has truly been an amazing opportunity these last few years. It has helped me in every facet of my life and I have taken away great memories up to this point. SLU Buddies is another wonderful thing which I am apart of on campus and it really is a phenomenal community service program. Setting an example for younger kids is something I feel is very important and should be done by all of us in some way. Also, I am a member of Male Athletes Against Sexual Violence (MAASV). MAASV is an organization dedicated to raising awareness about sexual violence and the role that men can play in preventing it. In my time spent here at St. Lawrence I have never been in a situation where I felt like I had nothing to do. Everyone can find their own way to get involved on campus and it's something that I encourage everyone to do. It's hard for me to believe that this is my last year but I am excited to be able to share my experiences this with everyone!
