St. Lawrence University

Hello readers across cyberspace,

My name is Noah Jenkins. I’m a rising senior at St.
Lawrence hailing from nearby Colton, NY. I’m a Philosophy major with two minors
in European Studies and Outdoor Studies. I recently returned from a semester
abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark. On campus I work as a Community Assistant (CA)
for the Residence Life Office, play intramural volleyball in the spring, serve as treasurer of Phi Sigma Tau (the philosophy honor society), and I
enjoy acting. In the spring of 2011 I starred in the PCA department’s production of Neil
LaBute’s “The Shape of Things” and this past semester I worked with my friend
Collin Henderson ‘12 on his senior film project.

I consider working with St. Lawrence people (past, present,
and future) a passion of mine. The son of two Laurentians and the nephew of
another, I’m what St. Lawrence calls a “chip” (short for chip off the old
block). Needless to say, St. Lawrence culture has always been a part of my life
and attending this school brings me a great deal of pride. Last summer I worked
at Canaras Conference Center, St. Lawrence’s beautiful family camp on Upper
Saranac Lake. I got the opportunity to meet and serve a number of alumni and
their families all in the setting of the Adirondack Mountains which I love
dearly. I’m currently 19 peaks in on my quest to hike all 46 of the high peaks
and looking to check some more off really soon.

I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to blog for the
admissions office and look forward to answering any questions you might have. I
have a lot of love for SLU, Canton, and the region and hope that any insights I
can provide for you will intrigue you and fuel your desire to come and visit
our spectacular campus.

My advice to you all: never lose your desire to learn.
“College is knowing stuff” as Dr. Bob Thacker, Professor of Canadian Studies,
always says.
