I’m Molly Lunn '12, a student here at St. Lawrence and a second-semester senior this fall. I’m a government major with an English/creative writing and Spanish double minor, acquired during an olive-oil soaked semester with St. Lawrence in Madrid. This semester I am taking courses in Political Theory, Statistics, A Literary Harvest (a creative writing class focused on local food) and am an intern with the University Communications office, writing for the web and our alumni magazine.
While I did walk at Commencement last May, I feel lucky to be back at school finishing up my major after taking a semester off my junior year. I work as an Ambassador for our Admissions office, where I give tours and make contact with prospective students and families. I also glean inspiration for my own writing helping classmates with their essays at the WORD studio, our campus writing center. I sit on the Academic Honor Council, where I hear cases of academic dishonesty, and I’m serving as House Manager for my Kappa Delta Sigma sorority this semester, assigning my ‘sisters’ to chores, ordering new curtains and ensuring the house is more-or-less standing weekend to weekend.
While my most significant extracurricular for the past three years was
my distance and butterfly role on our NCAA swim team, I’ve
put my swimming career on hold for my final semester to focus on job
applications and fully enjoying the short time I have left in college. I completed my first half marathon and half Ironman this past summer, and in my free time I’m now outside as much as possible, on my bike or running our trails or in an Adirondack beside our ski lodge-like Student Center.
I look forward to sharing my St. Lawrence with you through this blog (or by email at malunn08@stlawu.edu if you like what you see!), and to giving you a feel for the place I know and adore. Even if you’re not a prospective student or family member, St. Lawrence is gorgeous any time of the year. Find yourself wandering through upper New York State or lower Canada? Stop by for a visit, and see us for yourself. I guarantee everyone you pass will smile back.
