St. Lawrence University

What's Your Favorite Building on Campus?

While out on tour or just wandering around SLU's campus, I often wonder
which buildings people claim as their favorites. With such a beautiful
campus, there's no way we could limit it down to just one. So I thought
I'd poll the office and see what buildings made the favorites list among
the admissions crew.

Here's what they said:

St. Lawrence University Trails

I enjoy a really productive Sunday. Don’t get me wrong, a day on the Raquette River in Tupper Lake is lovely. Even a day driving home from a weekend with friends is gratifying, but there is something even more satisfying about accomplishing your chore list. Since the St. Lawrence Commencement, I have spent weekends traveling to visit friends, driving home for family, and trying to squeeze as much fun into my summer weekends as possible. While it is exciting to see friends you have not seen in ages and catch up with family, driving anywhere from Canton can be exhausting! With the 2012 Olympic Games kicking off this weekend, I decided it was time to work on my chore list and cheering on our athletes from the comfort of my Canton apartment.

Coming Home Again

In a speech I gave to admitted students during a visit days in late April, I tried to convey what is unique about being a part of St. Lawrence University. I mentioned but failed to fully explain the feeling of place St. Lawrence students experience when pulling off route 11 into Canton.

SLU Hidden Gems

On a traditional prospective student tour of St. Lawrence University, our Admissions Ambassadors bring guests on a one hour walking tour of campus. They stop in some traditional campus hot-spots, our main library, the Student Center, and meander through our state-of-the-art fitness complex. If you find that you just can’t get up to campus to see it for yourself, we have an interactive virtual tour where you can explore campus from a bird’s eye view, read about our buildings and see almost everything. What you don’t see from our online tour and in some cases, on our traditional student-led tour, are “SLU Hidden Gems”. With the help of one of my student bloggers Noah Jenkins, below are some of our favorite hidden spots on campus.

Hello from Me

Hi! I’m Molly, and I’m thrilled to be starting this blog from a mostly-sunny summer at St. Lawrence. I’d tell you my nickname, since there are two of us Molly’s blogging this year, but nothing’s stuck yet save Mulan (an interesting variation of MoLunn…hm) and you’re welcome to help me out there while I introduce you to my life.

This summer I’m an intern with the Admissions office. For the whole glorious summer.

Arrived on campus!

Just wanted to inform everyone that I have finally arrived on campus! The reason why I didn't arrive on the 23rd is because tomorrow (August 20), I leave with the Rock Climbing pre-trip! I would love to type a much more detailed blog entry summarizing my move-in experience but I want to save that for when I return from the trip. Our group expects to return Sunday morning.

Good night!
