Back-country skiing

St. Lawrence University

Last week we got hammered with snow up here at SLU. Everyone's car are getting stuck in the parking lots and it seemed impossible to plow any of the student parking lots. Finally facilities had everyone move their cars to another lot and plowed all of the student parking lots. At my house on Park Street there is a now a huge mound of snow behind our house, all of the snow plowed from the lot is now a mountain behind our house.

Up until yesterday the snow has been fluffy and EVERYWHERE! I headed to Lyon Mountain in the Adirondacks on Saturday to hike and ski Lyon Mountain with alex. It took us about 3 hours to skin up the mountain. It was snowing and a little overcast, but the snow conditions were perfect. Lyon is a popular spot for skiiers. The trail opens up in some places and is an open glade most of the way down. We got to the top in about 3 hours and skiied down pretty quickly through the mass amounts of snow. It was a blast, there aren't many outdoor activities i love more than skiing.

We routed through Tupper Lake on the way home to check out the end of the winter carnival there. We walked around, saw some friends from SLU and got some tea before heading back to SLU for night. It was our friends birthday so we had a small party at our house to celebrate that as well as valentines day! We have been taking down hearts all of our house now for days.

I Think maybe it's time to go make some sort of structure out of the huge snow mountain outside our house.

 good day!

As a SLU alumni I remember

As a SLU alumni I remember those days! Hopefully you have learned to love the snow, skiing and all that the north country offers.
