Mid Semester Sprint

I have some bad news... it is cold season!  For the past week I have been unable to shake some truly unfortunate symptoms.  I am ready to be over this cold and moving on to bigger and warmer things. Next week I head out to West Palm Beach for spring break! Cross your fingers that the temperature stays above 50 degrees.

Thursday the author Antonya Nelson sat in on my Techniques of Fiction writing class.   We read her short story Flesh Tones and asked her questions about the work and her approach to the writing process.  During the class a student's story was work shopped and she received feedback from the class and Ms. Nelson herself.  Thursday night at 8:00 p.m. Antonya Nelson spoke at the Writers Series and I attended her reading in Sykes formal lounge.  In the last few semesters my interest in fiction writing has grown tremendously and it was great to hear another author's approach and actually ask her advice on the process.  I was also excited to discover that she was born in Kansas!  It is always great to meet a fellow midwesterner at SLU.

Hopefully I can get over this cold very soon!
