Snow?
St. Lawrence University
This morning I woke up and I was absolutely overwhelmed with excitement because it was snowing outside. I spent my entire thanksgiving break at Sugarloaf in Carrabassett Valley, Maine and there wasn't any snow! So, I ended up hiking the mountain in the rain (the only few days we have had rain in the past few weeks, mind you) and I also enjoyed some nice runs on the cart paths of the golf course. Despite having no snow, I enjoyed being home in Maine with family, good food, and the beautiful mountains! I spent the rest of my break working on figuring out my flights for New Zealand for next semester, and the visa application.
Anyways, the snow was relatively steady for most of the morning, but then stopped and it has warmed up slightly and all of what had collected on the ground is now melted. So close to having our first real snow. I can feel it is coming soon! I am extremely anxious for the ski season to begin!
These three weeks before Christmas break will be extremely busy with work and other events for the closing of the semester. Before thanksgiving the Greenhouse put on a panel discussion in the student center titled The Colors That Comprise "Green": Race, Socioeconomics, and the Environment. We had a pretty good turn out of people for the discussion, and we got a very good discussion going about race, economics and the environment both on campus and on a larger national and global scale. Our panel was made up of students from various backgrounds and they all had different view points and interesting thoughts to add to the panel. As a house we were very excited with the turn out and the discussion that we had at the panel discussion.
This weekend a band I very much enjoyed called Rubbelbucket Orchestra is coming to Java to play on Saturday night. It has been a while since we had a java concert because of the cancellations due to swine flu. Hopefully there will be a good turn out and everyone will enjoy good friends and good music. It is a good time to be at SLU right now!
Think snow,
Katie

Thank you
Katie, I wanted to thank you for your blogs. As you can see by my graduation date I am and old fart. :) But your blogs are a great way for old alumni to stay in touch with SLU. I really appreciate the time you put into your writing.
Good luck with your travel plans and stay warm.
