Early Decision!
St. Lawrence University
Before I update, let me first answer the question to my last post: Why are our school colors scarlet and brown? Read on...
After a little research on our website, I discovered our school colors have been scarlet and brown since 1876. Three students proposed the idea to our student government (which at the time was a debating club). Why scarlet and brown? First story: They represent the autumn leaves on campus. Second story: They allude to St. Lawrence's martyrdom on a gridiron in the third century (kind of a gruesome story--I usually tell the former when I am recruiting students!)
Campus is very quiet this week as most students are off campus for the Thansgiving break. On my walk to work this morning, the Sullivan Student Center looked like a ghost town! All of the Adirondack chairs and tables are no longer outside...you know what that means...
Winter is right around the corner! As I walked into the admissions office, I noticed that ice formed on the evergreen bushes...
We are busy here in the admissions office, as our first Early Decision deadline was November 15th. We are in the midst of reviewing Early Decision applications now, with the goal of mailing decision letters mid-December. (If SLU is your first choice and you still haven't applied, there is a second Early Decision deadline, which is January 15th). You can see in this picture that Chad, my officemate, is hard at work reading his applications as I am writing this. You can see some of our files are stacked on the chair waiting to be read. I should sign off for now and start reading my applications...
Have a great Thanksgiving!
