Decisions, Decisions

St. Lawrence University

I was standing in the book store today when it hit me, I'm a senior!  It was definitely one of those piercing, blow to the gut moments.  I need to figure out what to do next year!  I have been struggling with this reality and happily living in denial about life after SLU.

Last week I registered for the LSAT.  The only preparation I have completed thus far has been taking a free practice LSAT offered by Kaplan.  After all, who am I to pass up a free standardized test?  I am a little late to enroll in a prep class so instead I decided to check out the LSAT book selection at the Brewer Bookstore!  I have been debating law school for some time now and could not decide if it was the right option for me.  After doing surprisingly well on my practice exam I have decided to go for it!  As I perused the shelves I happened across a different kind of Law school book.  It was focused on the admission process and surviving a three year stint in Hades.  Initially I overlooked the book, figuring I would cross that bridge when I reached it.  I spent the next five minutes comparing large, intimidating practice books before returning to the other one.

I opened the cover and prepared to skim through when I was suddenly stopped dead in my tracks.  The dedication page referenced Springsteen.  "Someday we will walk in the sun"  in my head I followed up with the next line "But till then tramps like us, Baby we were BORN TO RUN".  This might not seem like an epiphany to you, but in my world it most definitely was.  Karma PLUS a Bruce shout out?! It does not get much better.  Needless to say, I bought the book!

I have had two appointments with Career Services and both have been productive.  My resume is revamped and I have already submitted to one position!  The hardest part of this whole process is my own decision.  What do I want to do?  It is such a deceptively simple question!  Thankfully the team at Career Services have been more than helpful getting me down the right path!  A few more meetings and I might even have it figured out!  In the mean time you can find me in ODY Library worshipping the gods of the LSAT!

Best Wishes & Logic Games,

Haley
