Community Assistant

St. Lawrence University

Ugh.... this is unfortunately the fifth time I have attempted to write this post. I now know to save early and save often. Also, I have been ill over the past week or so and have fallen behind on my blog. I am going to attempt to give a highlight reel of some of the cool things that I have done in the past few weeks, since I first updated this semester. I also have some time right now because it is Friday and I am on duty tonight as a Community Assistant. Duty consists of walking around campus periodically throughout the night to make sure all is well in each respective community.

I did have the opportunity to get out on the SLU Golf Course and do some snow-shoeing. I really like it and it is nice to have such an open area of land literally in my back yard. I generally just do a lap or two around the course and walk all the way over to the stables. Unfortunately, this past week the weather was rather rainy and we lost most of our snow. It has snowed again to replenish some of it, but it is also pretty icy right now and not ideal for snow-shoeing. I am hoping we get another winter snow storm and I can get back out there a few more times.Img_1915

Also a few weeks ago, one of my professors had a bunch of students over to his house for dinner. Several current students and alumi went to Dr. John Collins' house for some pizza and to talk about the future of The Weave, a blog that I have been involved with and actually started in one of Dr. Collins' classes. This really shows what a great community we have here at SLU. Professors are so kind and accessible, it is nice when you can get to know them on a personal and a professional level. Also, some members of The Weave were asked to present next weekend at the SLU Leadership Conference, held here in the Student Center next weekend. I unfortunately will not be around next weekend to participate, but I will be helping to prepare the presentation.

Last weekend was also the SLU vs. Clarkson hockey game. It was a lot of fun and it was a very exciting game. I left the game without a voice because we were all cheering so loud for the team. It was exciting to the very last seconds and we actally ended up in a 3-3 tie!

Monday is also a very exciting day. It is my 21st birthday. I am excited to celebrate with friends and have fun! Also, the next weekend I will be heading home to celebrate with my family as well. It is especially cool because my mother and I share the same birthday!

Well, I am out for now! Stay tuned and I will work on updating this on a more regular basis. I am feeling much better now. I felt very ill last week, but I feeling about 95% better now! Happy Valentines Day!
