Flag Football and a Broken Nose...
St. Lawrence University
One of
my favorite things here at SLU is all the intramural sports
that we have available to us. This fall me and a bunch of my friends got together and we signed up for
flag football. Right now our team is 3-0 and
we are getting excited for the playoffs to start. It’s been really great so far because most of us
actually played football in high school and we find ourselves talking about how we
miss playing under the lights on Friday nights.
Fortunately, all of our flag football games are still under the lights
on Sunday nights and it has been a really good feeling to lace those cleats up
again.
This week I won’t be
participating in our team’s game because of a little injury I sustained during
a pick-up basketball game earlier in the week. One of my
friends unfortunately caught my nose with his elbow and I broke it. On a positive note, the campus Emergency Medical Services were really
quick to respond and came right over to the gym to help me figure out what I should do. Luckily for me it was a clean break and it will be able to heal on it's own in the next month or so.
Intramural sports are really popular
on campus and 62% of students actually participate in at least one intramural
sport. We also have many
inter-collegiate athletes on campus which is right around 32% of the student
body. I have been able to go and cheer on all of our fall sports for at least one game and it’s been really nice to see
all the support from the students at the games. This past weekend I was able to see both of the Women’s soccer
games and they had a clean sweep over RPI and Vassar!
I included some pictures from this weekend’s
games. After watching all the fall sports, I find myself just counting
down these last few days before basketball season starts on Wednesday. Hopefully I’ll manage to keep my nose safe!
