Our Fabulous Student Workers

St. Lawrence University

Seasons Greetings!

I'd like to dedicate this post to our incredible 70+ (too many to count!) student workers as our office becomes busier and busier with application pieces filling our mail buckets.  Our office would have a difficult time functioning without their dedication and hard work.  (Note to future students:  the admissions office is a great place to work if you want a campus job!)  In fact, we are currently advertising to current First Years, sophomores and juniors to apply for the position of "Admissions Ambassador."

This newly designed job allows students to lead campus tours to prospective students and families, write e-mails and letters to prospective students, and help us admissions counselors with various projects during the year.  In addition to earning some extra cash, our future ambassadors will learn a LOT about St. Lawrence and develop many important skills (public speaking, writing, interpersonal skills, etc.) that future employers want to see.

Last week, our office threw an end-of-the-semester "thank you" dinner, catered by our own Dining Services.  I think everyone had a fantastic time!

I took some random snapshots throughout the evening:

The salad was so good I had to take a picture of it!

Here, pictured left to right, you'll find Jennifer, BJ, Sara, Chad, Al and Chris waiting for the students to arrive.  (I honestly think we were all just as excited to eat as the students!)

Last but not least, my office-mate Chad (far left) shares a very funny story with student workers Jessica Moore '10 (center) and Molly Williams '09 (right) and Sara (standing far right).  Note the empty chocolate mousse cups!
