Sealing the First Decision Letter Envelope

St. Lawrence University

What a busy, exciting and stressful time it has been the past few weeks here in Payson Hall!

Dean Cowdrey seals the first envelope! On Friday morning, everyone in the office gathered to watch Dean Cowdrey as she officially sealed the first acceptance letter.  Afterwards, the entire office joined and busily sealed envelopes:

Everyone busy at work Action shot...people are busily sealing letters...the mail truck is on its way!

Once our "envelope sealing party" ended on Friday, the entire office headed up the road for some mandatory fun...lunch and bowling in Potsdam!

Now let's talk a bit about what is inside the acceptance envelopes...some outstanding future Laurentians!  This was the second most competitive year for admission in the history of St. Lawrence.  This meant we had many more qualified students than spaces available and had some very tough decisions to make.  Rest assured that we have a very thorough reading process.  Did you know very application is read three times by three different people before a final decision is made?

We are relieved because the long nights of processing and reading applications have ended for another year.  We are also extremely excited, because the fantastic students we met while recruiting could be potential St. Lawrence students.  For some of you, this is an exciting time, and for others disappointing.  However, it is important to remember you will find your place.  If it is St. Lawrence, we can’t wait to welcome you to campus.  If it is another school, they should consider themselves very fortunate because all our applicants are amazing people and have incredible futures ahead of them.

I will conclude with one last picture...all of our hard work--representing months upon months of recruiting, processing, filing, and reading, is all loaded into the mail truck!
