A Summer Internship in Admissions

St. Lawrence University

So this is my first blog post ever and I’m really excited about posting throughout my summer internship here at St. Lawrence University (SLU). Along with five other interns, we have the privilege of becoming the “six most informed students on campus.” Not only does this allow us to gain experience but, most importantly, bragging rights as the most knowledgeable individuals amongst our peers.

Our first few weeks here we had several meetings with administrators around campus; everyone from President Sullivan to Kathleen Buckley, University Chaplain. This has given us a behind-the-scenes glance at how SLU is run, maintained as well as a look at where the University is headed in the future. The purpose of these meetings is to prepare us for conversations with prospective students, answer the numerous questions parents often have on tour and update any informative material around Admissions. So I encourage any student interested in SLU to e-mail (bmcarb05@stlawu.edu) me with questions/comments and I’d be more than willingBlake_2 to respond. Hey and if you’re a current student or alum’ shoot me an e-mail as well!

I'm guessing you're probably wondering, "Who is Blake Carbone?" Well, I'll be the first to tell you...

  • I'm the 6th member of my family to attend (3 brothers, 1 sister and 1 cousin). Yeah, I'm hoping for a 'Carbone Bench' to be located somewhere around campus.
  • I'll be a senior in the Fall...but I try to forget that harsh reality.
  • I'm an English major with a concentration in writing and I am also minoring in Communication/Performance Arts and Gender Studies.
  • My first season of squash last year I was Liberty League, 'Rookie of the Year.' Check out our homepage and the completely unflattering picture of me; one that makes me look like I don't know how to swing a racket. Cool sneaks/socks right?
  • I'm a student DJ/Director of Music in the electronic/indie department for KSLU Radio.
  • Come Fall I'll be living in one of the 12 theme cottages on campus, The Women's Resource Center (WRC or more commonly known as The Dub).

OKay, sooooo....FIRST ONE TO POST A COMMENT WINS...Ready. Set. GO!

re: A Summer Internship in Admissions

I can't wait to meet you in person you are like a real life hero to me... knock knock! ;)

re: A Summer Internship in Admissions

You seem like a great person. Would I be a good fit for SLU?

re: A Summer Internship in Admissions

So what else is there to know about Blake Carbone?

re: A Summer Internship in Admissions

Blake I think you are really cool... I am also really into blogging and second life... can we meet in the virtual world?

re: A Summer Internship in Admissions

More than the robot, Blake has also mastered the age old art of Karate - she is currently working towards her second black belt! So... not only is she a "treat" to watch on the dance floor, but she has proven to be a force to reckon with in those back yard brawls that are so common at SLU!

re: A Summer Internship in Admissions

One thing Blake forgot to mention in her blog is that she can do the best "robot" anyone has ever seen! Next time you're with Blake (or "Boob" as I like to call her), put on some tunes and get robotic!
