Mid-Semester Break
St. Lawrence University
Last week we had our Mid-Semester Break and I decided to
spend it in Montreal, Quebec with some friends. Just two hours away,
it’s a really simple drive. I was able
to hike, have crepes in old Montreal,
play bingo, do a little shopping, and drive some go-karts. It wasn’t all fun and games though I did have
quite a bit of work to do. For my
Advanced Fiction course I had to write a fairytale on anything I wished. I wrote about a young boy and a
magical drum set where he was able to play any song from his favorite musical
group, the Rolling Stones. I like how my
professor provides the class with various techniques to draw from and encourages
us to expand our imagination and create our own unique styles of writing.
I also had to rehearse my open monologue scene this past Monday in my Beginning Acting class. I performed in front of my classmates where they gave me feedback and suggested some things for me to think about for my final scene. Next, I’ll be able to meet with my professor one on one to discuss any questions I might have about my character/performance or any constructive criticism she may have for me.
Because it is half way through the semester I also have a midterm due this Friday for my Interpersonal Communication class. I’ll have to answer questions regarding interpretive competence, gender prototypes, scripts, and "schemas." It’s a good thing I’ll be on a five hour plane ride tomorrow so I can spend time going over the readings and class notes. I’m going to Carmel, California because my oldest sister, Megan is getting married! I’m so excited to spend time with family and friends and feel a little heat as the leaves start to fall in Canton and the temperature begins to drop. I hope everyone enjoys their weekend just as much as I will!
