Who you gonna call?? GHOST BUSTERS!
St. Lawrence University
Pumpkins. Hay bails. Ghosts. Candy. Costumes. These words describe everything about campus this past week. There was a noticeable air of excitement throughout the student body as everybody worked busily through classes in the anticipation of Halloween weekend! The week started on Monday, when I went to go see the film contest show in the Student Center. Students were given 24 hours to create a film, edit it, and submit it. The next day, the six groups that made films were able to present them to the student body. They were amazing! I went to cheer on my friends who- by the time the films were viewed- had been awake for over 30 hours, having spent the entire 24 hours working on their film!
The rest of the week was just as eventful. On Thursday, St. Lawrence hosted a climbing competition at our climbing wall. Everyone competing and working dressed in costume and got into character. A live band was playing throughout the entire competition and over 40 people participated! It was a huge success and so much fun! I got to meet a lot of new people who shared a similar interest with me- and not all were from SLU. We had groups from Paul Smith's and Plattsburg come to compete!
The week ultimately culminated on Saturday night. Every year, the Outing Club hosts the annual Halloween party for the entire campus where we set up a huge tent on the quad and get an awesome band to come play for us. It was amazing- the tent was packed, the band was unreal, and I got to see and hang out with people I usual don't get to see on a regular basis. It was a great way to get the whole campus together celebrating an awesome holiday- HALLOWEEN! Spirit still lingers on campus today, as many have chosen to dress up for the actual Halloween day. This campus- and everyone who lives here- never ceases to make me smile. I love this place! Till next time...
