GREAT MOUNT TITUS NORTH COUNTRY GLOBAL COOL DOWN!!!
Well, the snow is beginning to disappear, the sun is shining, and the birds are chiming. Such are the signs that show spring is on it's way and tomorrow most of the campus will migrate back home for spring break. Last week was packed full of activities: On Tuesday I cooked dinner with a group of my close friends in Dean Eaton with some fresh veggies and fruits. Wednesday was another packed night- a fashion show to promote healthy body awareness took place in the Winston Room with students strutting their stuff on the catwalk in crazy outfits (I think I saw a deviled egg costume!). On Thursday, interviews began for students applying to the Outing Club house and these continued on Friday evening. After interviews, we all headed over to the Java barn to listen to some great music and jam out.
Saturday began the epic Great Mount Titus North Country Cool Down Extravaganza, which was sponsored by my house, the Outing Club. During the earlier part of the day, we had activities going on the quad that were open for all students to take advantage of- dogsledding, rail jam, skijorring, fort building, snowball fights, music.... Everyone was super amped and the energy was flowing; not to mention that it was a warm, sunny day. At 3:30, we loaded up 9 full school buses plus numerous independent vehicles and headed to Mt. Titus to spend the rest of the evening night skiing and tubing. In the ski lounge, non-skiiers and skiiers alike gathered to watch Lucid play. It was great to look around the slopes and be able to spot someone you knew everywhere you looked. Everyone got back to campus late that night happy and tired from a long day of winter festivities.
This week so far has been pretty mellow since most people are holed up in the library, studying for midterms or writing papers. In addition to studying, I've been spending this week helping to interview applicants for the Adirondack Semester for next year. The program this year had more applicants than it has in any year previous! Tomorrow, most of the campus will filter out and make their way home for spring break. As for myself, I will be heading down to Red River Gorge in Kentucky to do some rock climbing with the guide training program. Time seems to be just flying by (I've already been at school for a month and half!) and I'm trying to dig in my heels and soak up as much of this as I can, while I can. Till next time...
