Touchdown St. Lawrence

Cheers Everyone!

Last Saturday the Saints beat USMMA (U.S. Merchant Marine Academy)
41-22 in a home game!  I was touring campus with prospective students
for the majority of the afternoon but I managed to catch the tail end
of the game.  The crowd was in a frenzy, their voices reached all the
way to the suites! After the game I got to see one of my favorite St.
Lawrence traditions.

The bell outside Leckonby Stadium was swarmed by football players
following the win.  The entire team converged, cheering loudly and the
victory bell rang out loud and clear!  The team then began to sing Alma Mater a
song composed by J.K. Gannon (famous for writing I'll Be Home for
Christmas) and a SLU alum.   It was such an exciting celebration for
both the team and the crowd.  I love these little traditions and
moments that mean so much to the students here.  The quad experience,
the ringing of the bells, matriculation, candlelight service, are all a
huge part of the St. Lawrence community.

I am looking forward to many more serenades after home games this season!

My family is arriving tonight and I could not be more excited! These
visits always come at a perfect time.  I will be giving
them a tour of campus on Saturday and probably throw in a little
shopping at the book store!  Saturday night we are going out to dinner
and meeting
up with some of my friends!  Mom has requested that we attend Sunday
Brunch at Dana Dining Hall, the waffles are calling our names!

Best Wishes & Strawberry Covered Waffles,
Haley
