Top 5 Saintly Secrets
So far my summer has been amazing! I have gotten to meet so many new people and have been having a blast. Work has also been going very well. It has been a little rainy thus far, which makes tours a little more difficult trying to talk from umbrella to umbrella. Today I thought I would share with you some of St. Lawrence's unknown secret fun facts.
Here are the TOP 5 Saintly Secrets:
1. Herring Cole, our old library, and Richardson, our English deparments building, are the two oldest buildings on campus. Both buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places. In fact Richardson used to be our entire campus. Both males and
females lived in the building and classes were attended on the second and third floor.
2. The Beta temple is an unknown to all of campus. Beta is a fraternity on campus that is on their way to re-colonizing this upcoming year, meaning the Beta temple will now be put to good use once again. For the past few years, the temple has been completely locked. No student on campus has ever been in there!
3. Brewer Bookstore used to be our old gym. When you walk into the bookstore you can see the hardwood flooring which used to be the old basketball court and upstairs is where the old track was. It is absolutely amazing to see the difference between our old gym i.e. the bookstore, and our new athletic facilities.

4. In 1933, major league baseball's New York Giants played St. Lawrence on what is now Weeks Field, winning 12-4. The team came because one of the pitchers was Harold "Prince hal" Schumacher who graduated in in 1933 so the team came down for his graduation!
5. The composer of the University's Alma Mater, J. Kimball Gannon '24, was also the composer of "I'll be home for Christmas." I am sure everyone has heard this great Christmas carol so you can imagine how well written and amazing our Alma Mater is!
