Vi Elsker FC!
I just got home from an FC København game. It is actually the second one that I have been to this week. The title of this post is "Vi Elsker FC." This is a song that fans sing before every FC København game. "Vi Elsker FC" means "We love FC" in English. The rest of the song has a pretty funny translation, but it is probably not appropriate to post here. We actually learned how to sing the song and its translation
in my Danish class. Then my Danish class and I went to a game on Sunday together to sing the song and see real Danish "soccer". Obviously soccer in Denmark is football, but you know what I mean. To hear the rest of the song in Danish, check go here.
The game on Sunday was so much fun. It was against a team called AaB from Jutland. FC København won the match, 3 to nothing. The fans at the game were more than wild and the whole
atmosphere was really cool! Tonight I was lucky enough to go to another game against FC Nordsjælland. Again, FCK won the game, but it was closer this time. The score at the end was 2-1. I went with my host mother's brother. He is a big FCK fan! If you are ever in Copenhagen, attending a FCK game is a must! The games are held at their national stadium called Parken. (That is also where the George Michael concert I went to the first week was held.)
Another classic tourist thing to do in Copenhagen is to go on a canal tour. So last Friday I decided to go, along with two other SLU students, Katie and Liz. It is a great way to see all the sites of the city from a different angle. I got tons of good pics. Also, my host mother gave us some helpful hints so that we found the cheapest boats in the city. It is nice to have some insider information!
Additionally, I have been busy with homework, tests, and the "DIScover CPH" newspaper I am working on. I am excited because they will be printing our first edition this coming week. Today was our first deadline and I think it looks really great! I need to get some sleep now, but stay tuned, this weekend I am off to Sweden for a biking and canoing extravaganza!
